Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources
(ESDM) has set the electricity tariffs for PT PLN (Persero) for the
Second Quarter of 2026 (April–June) to remain unchanged as a government
measure to safeguard public purchasing power. “The public need not
worry, as the Government has set the electricity tariffs for the Second
Quarter of 2026 to remain the same,” said Acting Director General of
Electricity at the Ministry of ESDM, Tri Winarno, in an official
statement received in Jakarta on Wednesday. Tri explained that this
determination aims to protect public purchasing power. At the same time,
the government urges the public to use electricity efficiently and
wisely as part of collective efforts to support national energy
resilience. According to Tri, the decision underwent a thorough
evaluation of macroeconomic parameters in accordance with applicable
regulations. Adjustments to electricity tariffs for non-subsidised
customers are based on Ministry of ESDM Regulation Number 7 of 2024,
with periodic evaluations every three months based on changes in
exchange rates, Indonesian Crude Price/ICP (benchmark oil price),
inflation, and Coal Reference Price (HBA). For the Second Quarter of
2026, the parameters used are realisations from the period November 2025
to January 2026, namely an exchange rate of Rp16,743.46 per US dollar,
ICP of 62.78 US dollars per barrel, inflation of 0.22 percent, and HBA
of 70 US dollars per tonne. Although the formula indicates potential for
tariff changes, the government has decided to maintain electricity
tariffs to ensure national economic stability amid global dynamics. That
policy, according to him, also applies to subsidised customers who
continue to receive unchanged tariffs. PLN President Director Darmawan
Prasodjo stated that his company is ready to implement the government’s
policy while ensuring the reliability of electricity supply for all
customers, especially amid the dynamics and uncertainties of global
geopolitical conditions. “Amid the dynamic global geopolitical
conditions, we appreciate the Government’s step in maintaining
electricity tariff stability for the Second Quarter of 2026. This policy
provides certainty for the public and the business world, and
demonstrates the state’s presence in safeguarding purchasing power and
national competitiveness,” said Darmawan. As the backbone of national
electricity, Darmawan continued, PLN is committed to maintaining the
reliability of electricity supply from upstream to downstream, and
ensuring that electricity services remain optimal throughout Indonesia.
“PLN is ready to fully support the Government’s policy by continuing to
maintain system reliability and expanding equitable access to
electricity for all people, as well as improving operational
efficiency,” he said.
",
