President Prabowo Subianto has received a report that aid amounting\nto Rp20 billion for each disaster-affected district in East Nusa\nTenggara (NTT) has been disbursed and received by local governments.<\/p>\n
During a post-earthquake coordination meeting at the evacuation post\nat the 834\/Wakanga Mere Territorial Development Battalion headquarters\nin Tonggurambang Village, Mbay, Nagekeo Regency, NTT, Prabowo asked the\nHead of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), Suharyanto,\nabout the aid provided to earthquake-affected districts.<\/p>\n
\u201cHas the Rp20 billion aid for each affected district arrived?\u201d\nPrabowo asked on Wednesday, 26 August 2026.<\/p>\n
Suharyanto confirmed that the aid had been received and had been\nconveyed to each district head.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt has arrived. We have also informed the regents that the aid must\nnot be used for anything other than disaster response,\u201d Suharyanto\nsaid.<\/p>\n
On the same occasion, NTT Governor Melki Laka Lena explained that the\naid was provided to all districts on Flores Island.<\/p>\n
In addition, the NTT provincial government has also received aid\namounting to Rp40 billion.<\/p>\n
\u201cMr President, we have received the aid. All districts on Flores\nIsland received Rp20 billion and the province received Rp40 billion,\u201d\nMelki said.<\/p>\n
According to him, the aid has greatly helped local governments\nstrengthen disaster response and meet the needs of displaced\nresidents.<\/p>\n
Melki also expressed appreciation that East Flores Regency received\naid even though the area was not included among the earthquake-affected\nregions.<\/p>\n
Nevertheless, East Flores is currently still dealing with the impact\nof the Lewotobi volcano eruption, which has been ongoing for\napproximately two years.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey also received it because they were affected by Lewotobi, Mr\nPresident. The Lewotobi eruption has been going on for two years, and I\nextend special thanks because they were not included but still received\nit,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
In addition to government aid, he said the NTT provincial government\nis mobilising support from the public and businesses to ensure the basic\nneeds of disaster-affected residents continue to be met.<\/p>\n
The local government has asked shops and kiosks in affected areas to\nhelp provide community necessities such as food, drinks, blankets and\nmats.
