The Indonesian Government's Communication Agency (Bakom) has engaged with representatives from the Indonesia New Media Forum, comprising independent 'homeless media' outlets on social platforms, to expand public communication reach through digital channels. Bakom aims to enhance reporting quality by encouraging balanced coverage and fact verification, leveraging these media's vast audiences of up to 100 million followers and billions of monthly views. Forum representative Timothy Marbun clarified that the discussions focused on opening lines of communication for comprehensive information sharing without formal commitments, underscoring the forum's independent and collective nature established in mid-2025.

The Indonesian Government Communication Agency met with
representatives from several homeless media outlets. The government
invited homeless media grouped under the Indonesia New Media Forum to
help broaden the reach of public government communication. Head of the
Communication Agency, Muhammad Qodari, stated that the forum is an
association of homeless media or independently managed news outlets.

“The presence of these new media friends reflects Bakom’s efforts to
reach the public as widely as possible. Not only through conventional
media, but also through digital channels that have become our
communication reality today,” he said during a press conference at his
office in Jakarta on Wednesday, 6 May 2026.

Homeless media refers to media entities based on social media without
a home in the form of their own website or application. This media
content is usually managed independently and uploaded to social media
such as Instagram, TikTok, or YouTube.

Several homeless media outlets in the New Media Forum include
Folkative, Indozone, Dagelan, Indomusikgram, Infipop, Narasi,
Muslimvlog, Ussfeeds, Bapakbapak.ID, menjadimanusia, GNFI, Creativox,
Kok Bisa, Taubaters, Pandemic Talks, and TaubaTers.

Furthermore, there are Kawan hawa, Folix, Ngomongin Uang, Big Alpha,
Good States, Hai Dulu, Proud Project, Vibes, UNFRMD, Kumpul Leaders, CXO
Media, Volix Media, How To Do Nothing, Everless Media, Geometry Media,
Folks Diary, Dream, Melodi Alam, NKTSHI, Modestalk, Lead Media, Nalar
TV, Mahasiswa dan Jakarta, and North West.

Qodari explained that the communication forum between the government
and representatives of the Indonesia New Media Forum is an effort to
improve the quality of reporting. So far, Qodari said, these media have
shortcomings in terms of covering both sides or news verification.

However, these media are considered to have enormous public reach
potential. “This new media already has a fairly large following,
possibly up to 100 million, with views that can reach billions, 4 to 5
billion in one month,” said Qodari.

INMF representative, Timothy Marbun, said there was indeed a meeting
between several INMF members and Qodari to get acquainted on Tuesday, 5
May 2026. “There was no commitment whatsoever,” Timothy stated.

According to Timothy, the partnership context is limited to opening
communication for homeless media to conduct the process of covering both
sides in coverage. The Communication Agency, he said, is open to
answering confirmations regarding government performance. “The spirit is
precisely to ensure that the information disseminated is complete from
all sides,” said Timothy.

Timothy explained that INMF was formed collectively and independently
in mid-2025. This forum was created as a space for gathering, growing,
and learning for new media. Therefore, he said, INMF is managed without
hierarchy. He noted that the media in INMF have editorial focus and
independence.
",
