One month for\nrestructuring,\u201d said Zulhas, as Zulkifli Hasan is familiarly known, at\nthe Improving MBG and Remote SPPG Service Quality event held at the\nCoordinating Ministry for Food office in Jakarta on Thursday. Within one\nmonth, Zulhas committed to organising and rectifying Nutrition\nFulfilment Service Unit (SPPG) points that had been traded, mapping MBG\nrecipient schools, improving kitchen quality, and verifying reports on\nMBG beneficiaries. \u201cComprehensive restructuring is needed by the new\nHead of BGN and management to fix this very important programme,\u201d said\nZulhas. The MBG programme restructuring is the government\u2019s response to\nvarious problems that occurred during the programme\u2019s implementation.\nThese MBG programme issues, Zulhas noted, have drawn the attention of\nPresident Prabowo Subianto. \u201cAt one point, the President finally heard\nand has decided to replace it with new management,\u201d said Zulhas. Head of\nthe National Nutrition Agency (BGN) Nanik S Deyang stated that her\nagency is implementing several budget efficiency measures so that the\nprogramme\u2019s execution does not burden state finances without altering\nthe nutritional fulfilment targets for beneficiaries. The first step\ntaken is a moratorium on opening new service points and kitchens. To\ndate, there are 27,877 operational kitchen points based on virtual\naccounts, which will be reorganised to assess the suitability of service\ncapacity with the number of beneficiaries in each region. The BGN, she\nsaid, is also temporarily halting new kitchen registrations while\nmapping needs in various regions. This restructuring is being carried\nout because the distribution of kitchens is still concentrated on Java\nIsland. The next step is to refocus beneficiaries so that nutritional\ninterventions are more directed at groups that truly need them.
