Government cash aid<\/p>\n

About 15.5 million poor families, or around 62 million people
\nwill be receiving financial assistance of Rp 100,000 in cash from
\nthe government. According to Sofyan Djalil, the Minister of
\nCommunications and Information, the money would be distributed to
\nthose entitled to the aid one week before the government raises
\nthe price of fuel next October.<\/p>\n
The aid money is chiefly aimed at relieving the people's
\nburden from the effect of the fuel price hike, in other words the
\npoor will be able to survive. The money will be directly sent to
\nthe entitled recipients through the post offices or Bank Rakyat
\nIndonesia (BRI), and each recipient would keep a card to record
\nthe transfer.<\/p>\n
We should give our appreciation to the government's commitment
\nto help the poor in this way, and hope that the implementation of
\nthe system will continue to work.<\/p>\n
