Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia \u2014 Minister of Manpower Yassierli has affirmed\nthat the government is still awaiting the deliberation process for the\nEmployment Law Bill (RUU Ketenagakerjaan), which is currently\nprogressing through the House of Representatives (DPR).<\/p>\n
According to him, the revision of Law Number 13 of 2003 on Employment\nis a DPR initiative, and the government has therefore chosen to respect\nthe ongoing legislative process before becoming formally involved in\ndeliberations.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd this process is still with the DPR. Yes, we on the government\nside, in due course when deliberations begin, will naturally prepare our\nown concept as well,\u201d Yassierli said at the DPR building in Jakarta on\nMonday (20\/7\/2026).<\/p>\n
He again stressed that the government\u2019s current position is to await\nthe outcome of the DPR\u2019s drafting process, whilst monitoring\ndevelopments in the legislative process.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is still in motion. We shall wait. Naturally we respect it \u2014\nafter all, this was first and foremost an initiative of the DPR. So we\nwill wait,\u201d Yassierli said.<\/p>\n
Separately, the Ministry of Manpower continues to gather aspirations\nfrom various groups as part of the government\u2019s preparations ahead of\ndeliberations on the bill. Input has come from workers, employers and\nother stakeholders, to be used later as material in formulating the\ngovernment\u2019s position.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat is the phase the government is currently undertaking,\u201d\nYassierli said.<\/p>\n
The aspiration-gathering process also covers a range of developing\nemployment issues, including wage regulation and ride-hailing drivers\u2019\ndemands regarding health insurance. However, the government will not\nadopt a position before the DPR\u2019s draft bill is finalised.<\/p>\n
Whilst declining to comment on the substance of the proposed\nlegislation, Yassierli responded positively to the idea of strengthening\nbipartite dialogue between employers and trade unions from the outset of\nresolving industrial relations disputes. In his view, such a mechanism\ncould open the way for more effective communication.<\/p>\n
