Google is once again expanding the use of artificial intelligence\n(AI) within its everyday services. The company has introduced\nvoice-based features that allow users to speak directly to Gmail, Google\nDocs, and Google Keep to search for information, create documents, and\norganise notes.<\/p>\n
These features, named Gmail Live, Docs Live, and Keep Live, began\nrolling out on 3 September 2026, following their initial introduction at\nthe Google I\/O 2026 event. All three features utilise Gemini technology\nto understand conversation more naturally, meaning users do not need to\nuse specific command formats.<\/p>\n
Through Gmail Live, users can query information stored in their inbox\nsimply by speaking. Instead of typing keywords and sifting through\nnumerous emails, users can ask questions using everyday language. Gemini\nthen searches for relevant information from the emails and provides an\nanswer. Users can also ask follow-up questions or interrupt the\nconversation to narrow down the information sought. Gmail Live also\ndisplays conversation transcripts and the email sources used to generate\nthe answers.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Docs Live is designed as an assistant for creating and\ndeveloping documents. Users only need to convey ideas orally, including\nthe intended purpose and format of the document. Gemini can then assist\nin organising those ideas into a document structure and an initial\ndraft. With user permission, Docs Live can also use information from\nGmail, Google Drive, Google Chat, or the web as additional context.<\/p>\n
Google Keep receives the Keep Live feature, which functions to\ncapture various thoughts or information spontaneously. Users can perform\na \u2018brain dump\u2019, conveying many points orally without needing to worry\nabout the arrangement of notes beforehand. Gemini then helps transform\nthese into more structured notes, including lists or checklists. This\nmethod allows users to record ideas while travelling or performing other\nactivities without having to stop to type.<\/p>\n
The three features are becoming available globally in English for\nmobile device users, though access depends on the specific Google AI\nsubscription type. Gmail Live is available to Google AI Plus, Pro, and\nUltra subscribers on Android and iOS. Docs Live is available to Pro and\nUltra subscribers on Android and iOS, while Keep Live is currently\navailable on Android for Pro and Ultra subscribers.
