The Bali Provincial Government is accelerating the land acquisition\nprocess for the construction of a gondola line in the Turyapada area,\nBuleleng Regency. This acceleration is being implemented because the\ngondola facilities ordered from China are scheduled to arrive in late\nJune 2026.<\/p>\n
Governor of Bali, Wayan Koster, stated that the second phase of the\nTuryapada area development is targeted for completion by November 2026,\nwith operations commencing by the end of that year. This phase\nencompasses the construction of a planetarium, a convention centre,\naccess roads, the gondola, and other supporting facilities.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe request that construction begins immediately because the gondola\nhas been ordered from China and the goods will arrive at the end of\nJune. In order for installation to take place, the land must already be\navailable for use,\u201d said Koster during a visit to Turyapada Tower in\nBanjar Dinas Amerta Sari, Pegayaman Village, Sukasada, Buleleng, on\nSunday (17\/5\/2026).<\/p>\n
According to the Governor, the land acquisition process for the\ngondola route has, in principle, been agreed upon by residents. The\nrequired land has a width of 20 metres and a length of approximately 940\nmetres. However, price determination is currently awaiting the results\nof an appraisal from an independent institution.<\/p>\n
\u201cEverything must comply with the regulations. Prices cannot be\ndetermined arbitrarily, whether by me or others. Everything is assessed\nthrough an appraisal,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n
Koster emphasised that the Turyapada project is not solely focused on\nphysical development but also on the economic impact on the local\ncommunity. Consequently, residents have been encouraged to form\ncooperatives to ensure their involvement in business activities within\nthe tourism area. Furthermore, local labour will be prioritised,\nparticularly the youth in the surrounding area, who will receive\ntraining to participate in the management of the Turyapada tourism\nzone.<\/p>\n
\u201cSimilarly, for small businesses, stalls will be prepared without\nrental fees so that the local community can truly feel the benefits,\u201d he\nadded.<\/p>\n
Koster explained that the development was initially focused on a\ntelevision transmission tower to ensure Buleleng residents no longer\nrelied on satellite dishes. \u201cIf it were just a standard tower, the\ninvestment would not generate economic value. Therefore, a study was\nconducted to transform it into a tourist attraction,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
He admitted to drawing inspiration from seeing a tourist tower in\nSingapore in 1996, which led to the idea of creating an iconic tourist\ntower in Bali that also holds economic value. The development study was\nconducted alongside a team from Udayana University over approximately\none year. Koster stated that the project has accounted for technical\naspects, including foundation strength and earthquake resistance.<\/p>\n
The total budget for the Turyapada area development reaches\napproximately Rp 560 billion. The first year was allocated Rp 330\nbillion, with approximately Rp 300 billion realised, while the second\nphase is valued at Rp 260 billion, including the construction of the\ngondola and supporting facilities.<\/p>\n
Currently, the Turyapada tower serves approximately 30 television\nbroadcasts, reaching not only the Buleleng region but also extending to\nJembrana and Banyuwangi. Koster mentioned that the Turyapada project is\nset to become a new tourist destination in Bali and a new icon for\nIndonesia. Management is planned to involve professional third parties\nto ensure the generation of regional revenue.<\/p>\n
