        "content": "<p>Golkar trying to avoid criticism<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA: With reports of violations of the election law by<br>\npolitical parties on the rise, the Golkar Party decided during a<br>\nmeeting here that they would not display many party symbols or<br>\nbanners in public places before the official campaign period.<\/p>\n<p>Golkar deputy secretary general Rully Chairul Azwar said on<br>\nMonday his party had been trying to respect the election<br>\nregulations.<\/p>\n<p>During the Golkar convention in October last year the party<br>\ndisplayed its symbols in very visible locales across Jakarta.<\/p>\n<p>\"We don't want more criticism,\" Rully said on the sidelines of<br>\nparty meeting, which will close on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>The Elections Supervisory Committee (Panwaslu) and a group of<br>\npolice officials will also address the party members on the<br>\ncampaign regulations.<\/p>\n<p>Separately, Golkar chairman Akbar Tandjung called on the<br>\nGeneral Elections Commission (KPU) to clearly define which party<br>\nactivities would be considered a violation. - JP<\/p>",
