Golkar party\u2019s Secretary-General Sarmuji has called on his party\ncolleague, East Kalimantan Governor Rudy Mas\u2019ud, to pay greater\nattention to public opinion regarding the planned purchase of an\nofficial vehicle worth Rp8.5 billion.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have already communicated with the Governor of East Kalimantan.\nWe have asked him to listen more carefully to public voices whilst\npursuing efficiency,\u201d said Sarmuji when contacted on Friday (27\nFebruary).<\/p>\n
According to him, based on Rudy\u2019s explanation, the budget for the\nofficial vehicle was approved in 2024. However, the vehicle with the\nplanned specifications must be specially ordered.<\/p>\n
\u201cEast Kalimantan has challenging terrain with a land area equivalent\nto the size of Java island. But regardless, we must measure against the\nconditions of our people, not by personal standards,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
He noted that from their communication, Rudy is currently still using\nhis personal vehicle as an official car.<\/p>\n
\u201cI conveyed that it is better this way, even though fundamentally the\nGovernor has the right to have an official vehicle. It so happens that\nthe Governor is able to afford and possesses a personal vehicle,\u201d he\nsaid.<\/p>\n
Earlier, Rudy stated that the new official vehicle would be used to\nsupport the activities of the regional head, particularly given East\nKalimantan\u2019s position as a supporting region for the new capital city,\nmaking the regional head\u2019s mobility necessary for receiving guests.<\/p>\n
\u201cEast Kalimantan is the nation\u2019s capital, a miniature Indonesia.\nGuests are not only regional heads from across Indonesia, but also\ninternational visitors. It would be inappropriate for the regional head\nto use a substandard vehicle. We must maintain East Kalimantan\u2019s\ndignity,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Rudy explained that vehicle procurement also follows Interior\nMinistry Regulation Number 7 of 2006. The regulation specifies that\nvehicles for regional heads of the sedan type have a maximum capacity of\n3,000 cc and jeep types of 4,200 cc.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe vehicle being procured is only 3,000 cc. On the matter of price,\nthere is appearance, there is quality, there is workmanship.
