        "content": "<p>Golkar denies preparing new cabinet list<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA (JP): Golkar Secretary-General Ary Mardjono denied<br>\nmaking a list of future cabinet ministers for President Soeharto<br>\nto consider.<\/p>\n<p>Ary said it was the President&apos;s prerogative to choose cabinet<br>\nministers and the Golkar executive board had not discussed<br>\nmatters concerning the 1998-2002 cabinet.<\/p>\n<p>However, reliable sources say that Ary&apos;s list of ministers had<br>\nbecome a hot topic among Golkar leaders.<\/p>\n<p>The People&apos;s Consultative Assembly will elect the new<br>\npresident and vice president next March. President Soeharto, who<br>\nhas been in power for 30 years, is widely expected to retain his<br>\npost.<\/p>\n<p>Golkar won 325 of the 425 contested seats in the House of<br>\nRepresentatives (DPR) in the recent general election.<\/p>\n<p>The new house of Representatives members will be sworn in on<br>\nOct. 1.<\/p>\n<p>Some Golkar figures and election campaigners, who assisted<br>\nGolkar in achieving its landslide victory, have been listed as<br>\ncandidates for ministerial posts in the cabinet, the source said.<\/p>\n<p>Past presidential cabinets have been dominated by the ruling<br>\npolitical organization.
