Golf at the Games?<\/p>\n

Indonesia failed to win first place at the 18th SEA Games held
\nrecently in Chiang Mai, Thailand. We need not feel downhearted
\nbut we should admit that our athletes did not do well in
\nathletics, swimming and football. These failures should serve as
\nan impetus for KONI (Indonesian National Sports Committee) and
\nother sports organizations to analyze the system of sports
\ndevelopment in this country.<\/p>\n
Training must be done as early as possible to achieve the best
\nresults. Unfortunately, the country lacks the sports facilities
\nneeded to achieve the desired goals. It is sad, for example, that
\nin some provinces there are fewer soccer fields than golf
\ncourses. There is only one football field in Tangerang, West
\nJava, but there are four golf courses.<\/p>\n
In Jakarta, there are only two sports stadiums of
\ninternational standard but there are nearly ten golf courses.
\nClearly, we need to build more sports facilities if we're going
\nto create better athletes.<\/p>\n
