Member of the House of Representatives Commission VI from the\nGorontalo electoral district, Rachmat Gobel, has expressed his gratitude\nto all parties for the successful organisation of the 17th National\nFarmers and Fishermen\u2019s Week (PENAS) in 2026 in Gorontalo Regency.\n\u201cSpecial thanks are conveyed to President Prabowo Subianto and Vice\nPresident Gibran Rakabuming Raka for attending the event. This has\ninspired the people of Gorontalo to be more active in development,\nparticularly in agriculture and fisheries, so that Gorontalo can become\na food barn in eastern Indonesia,\u201d Gobel said on Thursday, 25 June\n2026.<\/p>\n
The statement was made by Gobel following the conclusion of the PENAS\nevent, which took place from 20 to 24 June 2026. The activity was\nattended by thousands of farmers, fishermen, extension workers, and\nlocal government officials from across Indonesia. PENAS 2026 was opened\nby Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka and closed by President Prabowo\nSubianto.<\/p>\n
To enliven the event, Gobel presented and arranged three tourist\nattractions for participants to rest and enjoy recreation during breaks.\nThe three locations were Lake Perintis, the Pakaya Tower area, and the\nPentadio hot springs. Gobel stated he was proud and grateful to the local committee for\norganising the event well. He expressed appreciation to Gorontalo\nGovernor Gusnar Ismail and his staff, Gorontalo Regent Sofyan Puhi and\nhis staff, the Gorontalo Provincial Police Chief and his staff, the\nResort Military Commander and his staff, as well as the Ministry of\nAgriculture and the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries. \u201cSpecial\nthanks are also extended to all participants and to the warm-hearted\npeople of Gorontalo who made this event a success,\u201d Gobel said.<\/p>\n
According to Gobel, PENAS not only boosted the morale of farmers and\nfishermen but also had a significant economic impact on the wider\ncommunity. He noted that hotel and lodging services were fully booked,\ntransportation was bustling, restaurants and eateries were active, and\nsouvenir and handicraft businesses also reaped the benefits.\nFurthermore, tourism services were enlivened, and the public felt\nhappiness due to the various activities and crowds during the PENAS 2026\nevent. \u201cFor this reason, Gorontalo is very grateful for this event. In\nthe future, Gorontalo is ready to host other activities,\u201d Gobel\nsaid.<\/p>\n
In the agriculture and fisheries sectors, Gobel assessed that\nGorontalo\u2019s farmers and fishermen were able to learn a great deal from\nthe PENAS event. Various technologies and innovations in the agriculture\nand fisheries sectors were showcased during the activity. He added that\nGorontalo\u2019s farmers and fishermen also had the opportunity to exchange\nexperiences with their counterparts from other regions. They could also\nlearn from extension workers who came from various parts of Indonesia.\n\u201cThey certainly have unique knowledge and experiences that can be\nshared,\u201d Gobel said.<\/p>\n
For Gobel, PENAS 2026 served as a morale booster for the people of\nGorontalo to make the region a food barn in eastern Indonesia. He also\nhoped that the hospitality of the people, the natural beauty, and the\ntourist destinations of Gorontalo would leave a lasting impression on\nparticipants from all corners of the country. \u201cHopefully they are\nimpressed and will remember it, so that one day they can come again or\ntell people around them about the beauty of Gorontalo,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Gobel mentioned that PENAS participants could enjoy a number of\nGorontalo\u2019s tourist destinations, ranging from the Pentadio hot springs\nand the beauty of Lake Perintis, to the experience of taking photos with\nwhale sharks at Botubarani Beach. Additionally, participants could enjoy\nthe sunset and evening atmosphere at Tamendao Beach, the light\nattractions at Pakaya Tower, and the spherical videotron at Limboto\nPark.
