        "content": "<p>GMG eyes flights around South Asia<\/p>\n<p>DHAKA: Bangladesh's GMG Airlines hopes to fly to other countries<br>\nin South Asia if the government gives it the green light to be<br>\nthe first private carrier with an overseas service, a company<br>\nspokesman said on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>The airline, founded in 1998, will submit its application this<br>\nweek and is able to start international service immediately,<br>\nalthough the go-ahead will likely take around six months,<br>\nspokesman Vijay Alreja told AFP.<\/p>\n<p>\"We are ready and have all the requirements spelled out\" for a<br>\nlicense, he said.<\/p>\n<p>Alreja said GMG would prefer to begin its international<br>\nservice with flights to nearby Calcutta and Kathmandu going on to<br>\nNew Delhi and Colombo to ensure passenger turnout.<\/p>\n<p>Three other airlines -- Air Bangladesh, Air Parbat and<br>\nBismillah Airlines -- have also expressed interest in flying<br>\nbeyond domestic routes but are considered further away in meeting<br>\nlicense requirements.<\/p>\n<p>State-run Biman Bangladesh Airlines is the country's only<br>\ncarrier to fly overseas with 26 international routes. -- AFP<\/p>",
