        "content": "<p>JAKARTA \u2014 President Prabowo Subianto has characterised the current\nglobal crisis as a blessing in disguise for Indonesia, arguing that the\ncrisis forces the country to accelerate its good intentions and\nprogrammes.<\/p>\n<p>Prabowo made these remarks whilst addressing the first anniversary\ncelebration of Danantara Indonesia in Central Jakarta on Wednesday, 11\nMarch 2026.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis crisis, in my view, is a blessing in disguise. Certainly it is\nfull of difficulties and challenges, but it forces us to accelerate our\ngood intentions,\u201d Prabowo said on Wednesday evening.<\/p>\n<p>He expressed confidence that Indonesia would emerge from the crisis\nstronger through these programmes, stating: \u201cI am convinced that the\nIndonesian nation has been blessed with extraordinary natural wealth and\nwe are capable of overcoming this crisis. We will emerge from this\ncrisis even stronger.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The former Defence Minister then outlined Indonesia\u2019s\nself-sufficiency targets currently being implemented. According to\nPrabowo, food self-sufficiency has been partially achieved, with rice\nbeing one of the food items that has successfully reached\nself-sufficiency status.<\/p>\n<p>To achieve these goals, Prabowo has already ordered several\ndevelopment projects to be undertaken in the near term, including the\nexpansion of renewable energy capacity to 100 gigawatts (GW).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have vast quantities of palm oil, we will have sufficient\ncassava, we can obtain fuel from corn and sugarcane. Our people have\nenormous geothermal resources\u2014if I am not mistaken, the second-largest\nuntapped reserves in the world,\u201d Prabowo noted.<\/p>",
