Global demand for processed coconut products has become a primary\ndriver for increasing coconut processing capacity in Indonesia. Several\nproduction facilities are currently being developed to enhance the\nconversion of coconuts into various derivative products.<\/p>\n
One such company, PT Royal Agro Industri (RAI), is expanding its\nproduction facilities by importing new machinery from Beyond, China.\nThis equipment will be deployed at coconut processing plants in Manado,\nNorth Sulawesi; Sampit, Central Kalimantan; and a new factory currently\nunder construction in Riau.<\/p>\n
This expansion was confirmed by the CEO of PT RAI, Johanna. She\nstated that the construction of the new factory in Riau is a direct\nresponse to the continuous rise in demand for processed coconut products\nin the global market.<\/p>\n
\u201cBecause the demand for processed coconut products worldwide\ncontinues to increase, we are currently building another factory in\nRiau,\u201d Johanna said in a statement on Friday, 18 September 2026.<\/p>\n
Currently, RAI oversees three coconut processing plants: PT Dewa\nAgricoco Industri (DAI) in Halmahera, North Maluku; PT Tri Mustika\nCocomanaesa in Manado, North Sulawesi; and PT Samuda Coco Indonesia in\nSampit, Central Kalimantan.<\/p>\n
The new machinery will be used to add production lines to the Manado\nand Sampit plants, while the equipment destined for Riau will form part\nof the new factory\u2019s production facilities. The company expects all new\nequipment to be operational for production by next year.<\/p>\n
Following the facility upgrades, the processing capacity of the Riau\nplant is projected to reach 1 million coconuts per day. The Manado plant\nhas a capacity of approximately 500,000 coconuts per day, Sampit handles\n350,000, and Halmahera processes 250,000 per day.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis means we will have the capacity to process more than 2 million\ncoconuts per day,\u201d Johanna added.<\/p>\n
The expanded facilities will also be used to produce various coconut\nderivatives, including low-fat and high-fat desiccated coconut, coconut\nmilk, charcoal, cocofiber, cocopeat, crude coconut oil, and other\nproducts.<\/p>\n
