PT Petrokimia Gresik (Persero), an agro-industry solutions company\nand member of the PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero) holding, has introduced\nthe GladiAgro: Next-Gen Soil Revival innovation as a solution to help\nrestore soil health and support sustainable agriculture. The innovation\nwon the highest award as Outstanding Distinguished Innovator at the SDGs\nInnovation Accelerator for Young Professionals 2026, organised by the\nIndonesia Global Compact Network (IGCN). This achievement also paves the\nway for GladiAgro to be introduced at the UN Global Compact forum in New\nYork, United States, in September 2026.<\/p>\n
Petrokimia Gresik\u2019s President Director, Daconi Khotob, stated that\nGladiAgro was developed to address the challenge of declining\nagricultural soil quality, which can impact fertiliser effectiveness and\nagricultural productivity. \u201cGladiAgro is part of Petrokimia Gresik\u2019s\neffort to provide solutions for soil health issues. We want to help\nfarmers improve land conditions so that fertilisation becomes more\neffective, productivity increases, and agricultural sustainability is\nmaintained,\u201d Daconi said.<\/p>\n
The innovation was born from Petrokimia Gresik\u2019s concern over the\ndeclining quality of agricultural land in Indonesia. This condition is\npartly influenced by unbalanced fertiliser use and the practice of\nburning agricultural waste. Based on testing of 40,282 soil samples\nconducted by Petrokimia Gresik since 2016 across 27 provinces, 91.9\npercent of samples showed low organic carbon content. This condition can\nreduce soil quality and fertility, diminish fertiliser effectiveness,\nand make increasing agricultural productivity less than optimal.<\/p>\n
To address this issue, GladiAgro utilises a biological product based\non superior microbes, Petro Gladiator, to process agricultural waste\ninto Liquid Organic Nutrients. These nutrients are then returned to the\nland to increase organic matter content, improve soil structure, and\nhelp restore fertility. \u201cGladiAgro targets the root problem of\nagriculture, namely low soil fertility. Petro Gladiator acts as a\ndecomposer to help increase organic matter content. When soil quality\nimproves, nutrient absorption becomes more optimal, so agricultural\nproductivity can increase and land becomes more adaptive to climate\nchange,\u201d Daconi explained.<\/p>\n
In its implementation, GladiAgro has been applied in Central Java and\nEast Java on various food and horticultural commodities. The programme\nis strengthened by the AgrooFertile App, which is based on Artificial\nIntelligence and capable of providing commodity-specific fertiliser\nrecommendations. Through the AgrooFertile App, farmers can obtain\nfertiliser recommendations suited to their commodity and land\nconditions. Thus, fertilisation can be carried out more precisely,\nefficiently, and in an environmentally friendly manner.<\/p>\n
Daconi said the award is a form of appreciation for Petrokimia\nGresik\u2019s efforts in developing agro-industry solutions that provide\nbalanced economic, social, and environmental benefits. \u201cThis award is\nnot the final goal, but rather motivation for us to continue perfecting\nand expanding the benefits of GladiAgro.
