JAKARTA - The Gaikindo Indonesia International Commercial Vehicle
Expo or Giicomvec 2026 has been officially opened as a strategic event
for the commercial vehicle industry. The exhibition serves as a bridge
between industry players and consumers, both domestic and
international.

Gaikindo General Chairman Putu Juli Ardika stated that commercial
vehicles play a vital role in the national economy.

“Trucks and buses are the lifeblood connecting production centres
with markets,” Putu said at the opening of Giicomvec 2026 on Wednesday
(8/4/2026) at JIExpo, Kemayoran, Central Jakarta.

On the export side, Putu mentioned that the automotive industry’s
performance has continued to show a positive trend throughout 2025.
Total exports of complete built-up (CBU) vehicles reached 93,212 units,
an increase of 9.75 per cent compared to the previous year.

Of that number, commercial vehicles made a significant and strategic
contribution to total national exports.

“This proves that the quality of Indonesian commercial vehicle
production has been recognised and become a mainstay in international
markets,” he said.

He added that the transportation equipment sector also contributes
substantially to GDP, including from trade activities and after-sales
services. The growth of the transportation and warehousing sector even
reached 8.78 per cent in 2025.

However, Eko warned of challenges in the commercial vehicle industry,
such as a decline in production to around 164,000 units in 2025. In
addition, there is an imbalance between domestic production and sales,
which is partly filled by imported products.

“This situation indicates a supply gap domestically that needs to be
addressed together immediately,” he said. The government is encouraging
the strengthening of the industry structure and optimisation of
production capacity.

Through Giicomvec 2026, synergy between the government, industry, and
stakeholders is expected to grow stronger. The event also provides a
space to introduce more safe, efficient, and sustainable commercial
vehicle solutions.
",
