        "content": "<p>Indonesian Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka visited the Nyaru\nMenteng Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre, managed by the Borneo Orangutan\nSurvival Foundation (BOSF) in Palangka Raya, Central Kalimantan, on\nThursday (10\/9).<\/p>\n<p>Gibran was accompanied by wildlife activists and veterinarians who\ntravelled from Jakarta to ensure the management of forest fire impacts,\nparticularly regarding wildlife and their habitats.<\/p>\n<p>On this occasion, Gibran, accompanied by wildlife activists and\nveterinarians, walked alongside an orangutan while inspecting the\nsite.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe handling of forest fires must be comprehensive. Humans must be\nprotected, but we must not ignore wildlife and their habitats. I want to\nensure that the care requirements here are truly met,\u201d Gibran stated,\naccording to his official remarks on Friday (11\/9).<\/p>\n<p>During the visit, Gibran also personally observed the rehabilitation\nand care processes for orangutans and engaged in dialogue with\nveterinarians, volunteers, and the teams involved in wildlife protection\nefforts.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, he distributed aid, including medicines, onions, and\nnebulisers, to support the needs of the rehabilitation centre.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWildlife protection and environmental restoration are important,\ninterconnected issues. This includes healing injured animals and\nrestoring food sources, water, and ecosystems for wildlife,\u201d he\nsaid.<\/p>\n<p>Gibran also emphasised that wildlife protection is an inseparable\npart of environmental recovery efforts.<\/p>\n<p>He stated that the treatment of injured animals must be accompanied\nby thorough habitat restoration, including ensuring the availability of\nfood sources, water, and ecosystems that support long-term wildlife\nsurvival.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThank you to the veterinarians, animal lovers, volunteers,\nfoundations, and the entire team who continue to provide care to protect\nIndonesia\u2019s wildlife. Your real actions are very meaningful,\u201d Gibran\nsaid.<\/p>\n<p>During his inspection, Gibran also visited the BOSF Nyaru Menteng\nForest School, which currently serves as a training ground for 17\norangutans.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, he inspected the Individual Orangutan Quarantine area to\nobserve the nebulisation process, which is part of the treatment for\nanimals affected by forest fires.<\/p>\n<p>In this quarantine area, approximately 90 orangutans are undergoing\ntreatment in several enclosures tailored to the specific conditions and\nneeds of each animal.<\/p>",
