Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka has affirmed the government’s
commitment to improving the governance of the Free Nutritious Meals
(MBG) programme and the Village Red-and-White Cooperatives (KDMP). The
government is ensuring that every citizen will benefit from these
flagship programmes of President Prabowo Subianto. The governance
reforms also aim to make the MBG and KDMP programmes more effective and
free from corrupt practices.

“The government is committed to improving the governance of MBG and
KDMP to ensure every rupiah truly benefits the community and that
programme execution is more targeted, effective, efficient, and free
from corrupt practices,” Gibran said in a written statement on
Wednesday, 17 June 2026.

Gibran added that the governance improvements for the MBG and KDMP
programmes also aim to increase public trust in the government, as well
as market confidence in the national economy. “This step is important to
maintain public trust and improve the government’s fiscal capacity,
thereby boosting market confidence in the national economy,” he
concluded.

Previously, the Head of the Government Communication Body (Bakom RI),
Muhammad Qodari, stressed that the Free Nutritious Meals programme would
continue. He stated that the programme is a political contract delivered
by President Prabowo Subianto during the 2024 campaign.

Qodari explained that before running for president two years ago,
Prabowo had presented various priority programmes to the public,
including the MBG programme. “The MBG programme cannot simply be asked
to stop. It is part of President Prabowo’s vision and political
contract. He was elected because of the work programmes he implements;
these programmes cannot be halted,” Qodari said.

He added that the MBG programme was born from a noble goal, namely to
address nutritional issues still faced by some children and toddlers in
Indonesia. He assessed that these issues must be tackled because they
could affect the growth and development of the younger generation. While
acknowledging that the implementation of MBG faces various challenges,
Qodari stressed that these conditions cannot be used as a reason to stop
the programme. Instead, the government will continue to make
improvements so that its execution becomes more optimal.
",
