Gianyar was struck by three separate fire incidents in a single day\non Saturday (5\/9\/2026). The disasters included the burning of shrines\nand a building, a field fire in a rice paddy, and a fire at a household\nfurniture warehouse.<\/p>\n
Fire destroyed five shrines and one pavilion building at Pura Dadia\nAbutasan, Banjar Getas Kangin, Buruan Village, Blahbatuh District,\nGianyar. The building was completely consumed by the flames.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe incident occurred at approximately 2:30 PM WITA,\u201d said Blahbatuh\nPolice Chief, Commissioner Luh Putu Sri Sumartini, in a statement on\nSaturday (5\/9\/2026).<\/p>\n
Sumartini stated that the fire was triggered by offerings during the\nTumpek Uye holy day celebrations at the temple. The fire was first\nnoticed by the temple caretaker, I Wayan Tarka.<\/p>\n
Upon seeing the flames, the traditional Balinese wooden slit drum,\nknown as a kulkul, was sounded to call for assistance. Shortly after,\npolice and Gianyar Fire Department officers arrived to begin\nextinguishing the fire.<\/p>\n
\u201cLocal residents gathered at the location and worked alongside\nBlahbatuh Police personnel to carry out initial firefighting efforts\nusing available equipment while waiting for the arrival of the Gianyar\nRegency Fire Department,\u201d said Sumartini.<\/p>\n
Sumartini noted that the fire was brought under control two hours\nlater. However, the Gedong Penyimpenan, Taksu, Menjang Siang, Gedong\nArta, and Pesamuan shrines, as well as the pavilion building, had\nalready been destroyed. Preliminary investigations suggest sparks from\nofferings were the likely cause.<\/p>\n
\u201cBased on initial statements from the temple caretaker, the fire is\nsuspected to be related to sparks from incense during the offering\nceremony. However, the exact cause of the fire has not yet been\nconfirmed,\u201d explained Sumartini.<\/p>\n
There were no casualties in the incident, though material losses\nreached Rp 500 million. \u201cWe urge the public to always be careful when\nusing fire sources, particularly incense and prayer implements,\u201d\nSumartini pleaded.<\/p>\n
Almost simultaneously, a field fire occurred on Jalan Naga Kunci,\nBanjar Lebah, Keramas Village, Blahbatuh District, Gianyar, which also\nburnt the weeds in the area.<\/p>\n
Sumartini stated that the 800-square-metre land, owned by a resident\nnamed I Made Putra, was engulfed by flames at approximately 3:00 PM\nWITA. Two units from the Gianyar Fire Department worked to extinguish\nthe blaze.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe fire was successfully extinguished around 5:30 PM WITA. There\nwere no casualties or material losses experienced by the landowner in\nthis incident,\u201d explained Summatini.<\/p>\n
Investigations at the scene suggest the fire source likely came from\nthe south, spreading to the weeds in the paddy field. Monitoring and\nhandling measures were conducted even after the fire was extinguished to\nensure the surrounding area remained safe.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, a fire broke out at a wholesale household furniture\nwarehouse on Jalan Gunung Lempuyang, Gianyar. As a result of the\nincident, almost all furniture items were destroyed.<\/p>\n
\u201cA warehouse for plastic household goods collectors caught fire. The\nincident occurred in the afternoon at 1:17 PM WITA,\u201d said Gianyar Police\nChief, Commissioner I Made Adi Suryawan, when met at the scene on\nSaturday (5\/9\/2026).<\/p>\n
Suryawan stated that the incident was reported by three warehouse\nemployees, who ran for help as the flames flared up.<\/p>\n
Shortly after, eight fire engines from the Gianyar, Ubud, and\nSukawati Fire Stations arrived at the location to begin firefighting\noperations.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe employees saw thick smoke and flames, so they immediately ran to\nsave themselves, ensuring there were no casualties,\u201d said Suryawan.<\/p>\n
