        "content": "<p>Stock image provider Getty Images has officially announced a\nmulti-year deal with artificial intelligence company OpenAI. The\npartnership will allow licensed content from Getty Images to be\ndisplayed in search results on OpenAI services, including ChatGPT.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHigh-quality, licensed visual content makes AI-powered search and\ndiscovery more useful and trustworthy,\u201d said Getty CEO Craig Peters in a\nstatement. \u201cThis partnership with OpenAI reflects a shared recognition\nof that, and together we will deliver a richer visual experience to\nChatGPT users.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In September 2022, Getty banned all AI-generated artwork from\nappearing on its service. Months later, Getty sued Stability AI for\nalleged copyright infringement, though the lawsuit was ultimately\ndismissed by the relevant authorities in late 2025. A year after the\nban, Getty introduced its own generative AI, trained on its proprietary\nimage library and powered by NVIDIA\u2019s Edigy AI model, with all generated\nimages carrying a royalty-free licence.<\/p>\n<p>In October 2025, Getty took another step by partnering with\nPerplexity AI, enabling that company\u2019s AI-powered search and discovery\ntools to access Getty\u2019s library. The latest deal with OpenAI follows\nthat move. Getty has not yet shared any details on whether its images\nwill be used in OpenAI\u2019s AI training, though its agreement with\nPerplexity does not permit such use.<\/p>",
