        "content": "<p>The government is targeting 3,000 homes in East Kalimantan (Kaltim)\nto be renovated through house surgery or Self-Help Housing Stimulant\nAssistance (BSPS) in 2026. This increase in the house renovation\nprogramme quota is intended to accelerate improvements in the quality of\npeople\u2019s housing. The Ministry of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP)\nstates that this number is a significant rise compared to the previous\nyear, which only reached 655 units in East Kalimantan. Specifically in\nBalikpapan City, the BSPS programme is focused on reducing the backlog\nof uninhabitable houses (RTLH). All work is targeted to be completed by\n15 August 2026 with the support of 39 Field Facilitators (TFL). To\nsupport the programme\u2019s implementation, the East Kalimantan Provincial\nGovernment (Pemprov Kaltim) together with the Balikpapan City Government\n(Pemkot) is adding an allocation of 600 units, consisting of 500 units\nfrom the provincial government and 100 units from the city government.\nMeanwhile, the Ministry of PKP is also adding around 700 units of\nassistance through the BSPS programme. With these additions, the total\nhouse renovation programme in East Kalimantan for 2026 is targeted to\nreach 3,000 units. Minister of PKP Maruarar Sirait, or Ara, stated that\naccelerating the BSPS programme is a form of the government\u2019s presence\nin improving the quality of life for the people. \u201cThis house renovation\nprogramme not only repairs housing but also provides economic impacts\nfor the community.
