        "content": "<p>German state's firms seek RI partners<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA (JP): Executives of 32 companies from Germany's<br>\nfederal state of Baden-Wuerttemberg are visiting Indonesia to tap<br>\ninto Indonesia's growing business activities.<\/p>\n<p>During their visit, the companies' representatives are holding<br>\na two-day symposium to promote their products and to seek local<br>\npartners.<\/p>\n<p>The Baden-Wuerttemberg minister of economy\/deputy prime<br>\nminister, Walter Doering, said yesterday the 32 small and medium<br>\ncompanies were extremely interested in investing in Indonesia.<\/p>\n<p>Indonesia, with its market economy and high economic growth,<br>\nis very attractive for investment, he said.<\/p>\n<p>The companies make machine tools, precision tools,<br>\nmanufacturing automation, control systems and optoelectronics,<br>\npumps, paper processing machines, packaging machines and<br>\nconstruction machines.<\/p>\n<p>\"We have recognized that it is absolutely essential for the<br>\nfuture of the export of the state of Baden-Wuerttemberg that our<br>\ncompanies are present on the world's most dynamic markets, to<br>\nwhich Indonesia belongs,\" Doering said.<\/p>\n<p>The symposium at the Jakarta Hilton Convention Center was<br>\nopened by Minister of Research and Technology B.J. Habibie.<\/p>\n<p>The symposium, titled \"Technical Symposium Baden-Wuerttemberg.<br>\nTechnology made in Germany\", ends today. It was organized by the<br>\nstate's economic ministry and the German-Indonesian Chamber of<br>\nCommerce and Industry.<\/p>\n<p>The symposium has drawn about 800 participants.<\/p>\n<p>\"We hope about 12 contracts will be signed at the end of the<br>\nsymposium,\" the chamber's director Fritz Kleinsteuber said.<\/p>\n<p>Largest<\/p>\n<p>Baden-Wuerttemberg, in the southwest of the Federal Republic<br>\nof Germany, is the largest of the 16 federal states both in size<br>\nand with its population of 10 million.<\/p>\n<p>It is one of the economically strongest regions in Europe with<br>\nkey industries including mechanical engineering and its<br>\nautomobile industry.<\/p>\n<p>Some large companies, like Mercedes-Benz, Bosch and Porsche,<br>\nhave their headquarters in the state. The state's economy is,<br>\nhowever, driven by numerous export-oriented, small and medium<br>\ncapital goods enterprises.<\/p>\n<p>Through its Landeskeditbank, the state is also financially<br>\nsupporting the foundation of the German Center for Industry and<br>\nTrade in Bumi Serpong Damai, West Jakarta.
