German photos at Antara<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): An exhibition of photography by German Silke
\nGrossmann is scheduled to take place at Antara Journalism
\nPhotography Gallery, on Jl. Antara, Central Jakarta, from April
\n15 to 30.<\/p>\n
The Orte Gesichter Bewegung (Places, Faces and Movement)
\nexhibition is the second in a series of such exhibitions held
\nunder the theme of Aspects of Contemporary German Photography,
\njointly organized by Antara Gallery and the German cultural
\ncenter, Goethe Institut. The series features new trends developed
\nby talented photographers, including Grossmann, in Germany.<\/p>\n
Grossmann, a graduate of Hamburg's Academy of Fine Arts, who
\nis also a filmmaker, has developed a narrative form in her
\nphotographs that doesn't follow any linear story. Her photographs
\ndo not offer any fixed definition of their contents, but rather
\nthey attempt to maintain a certain detachment from known and
\noften used explanations.<\/p>\n
Grossmann has also displayed her photographs in New York,
\nBern, Berlin, Hamburg and Essen.<\/p>\n
A discussion on German Contemporary Photography will also be
\nheld at the same venue on April 22 by the gallery's curator Yudhi
