        "content": "<p>German exports fall<\/p>\n<p>WIESBADEN, Germany (AFP): German exports to ASEAN countries<br>\nand to Russia slumped in August owing to the economic and<br>\nfinancial crises hammering the countries, data published by the<br>\nFederal Statistics Office on Thursday showed.<\/p>\n<p>Germany exported goods worth a total 1.3 billion marks (US$760<br>\nmillion) to ASEAN countries in August, or 33.5 percent less than<br>\nthe total volume of goods exported in August 1997, the office<br>\nsaid in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>Members of the Association of South East Asian Nations are<br>\nBrunei, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines,<br>\nSingapore, Thailand and Vietnam.<\/p>\n<p>Among other Asian countries, German exports to Japan fell by<br>\n7.7 percent to 1.3 billion marks ($760 million) in August, while<br>\nexports to China jumped by 32.1 percent to 1.0 billion marks<br>\n($590 million), the office said.<\/p>",
