The Gerindra Party has asked Hotman Paris Hutapea, the lawyer for\nformer junior attorney general for special crimes Febrie Adriansyah, not\nto drag President Prabowo Subianto\u2019s name into the alleged corruption\ncase. Hotman had previously mentioned Prabowo\u2019s name during a press\nconference to defend his client.<\/p>\n
Chairman of the Gerindra Central Board, Bambang Haryadi, expressed\nregret over Hotman\u2019s statement linking the Febrie case to President\nPrabowo. \u201cThis is completely untrue and contradicts President Prabowo\u2019s\ncommitment to eradicating corruption,\u201d Bambang said in a statement on\nSunday, 19 July 2026.<\/p>\n
According to Bambang, Prabowo is impartial in law enforcement. He\nsaid that during party activities, Prabowo consistently emphasised that\nhe would not protect cadres who commit disgraceful acts and corruption.\nBambang claimed this statement has been proven. \u201cIt is proven, several\nregional heads who violated the law and are affiliated with Gerindra are\nstill being processed legally,\u201d said the Deputy Chairman of Commission\nXII of the House of Representatives.<\/p>\n
The Secretary of the Gerindra Party Faction in the DPR also urged\nHotman Paris not to invoke Prabowo\u2019s name when defending his client, who\nis implicated in an alleged corruption case. \u201cPresident Prabowo has\nnever interfered in law enforcement,\u201d Bambang stated.<\/p>\n
Hotman had previously said the police did not seek permission from\nPresident Prabowo Subianto when naming his client, Febrie Adriansyah, a\nsuspect in the corruption case related to case handling at PT Asabri.\n\u201cImagine, the president\u2019s trusted person is suddenly criminalised\nwithout even informing the president,\u201d Hotman said on Friday, 18 July\n2026.<\/p>\n
Hotman denied all allegations against his client that led to Febrie\nbeing named a suspect in the PT Asabri case at the prosecutor\u2019s office.\nHe also questioned the process of naming Febrie a suspect, which he\nconsidered a violation of the Criminal Procedure Code because there was\nno prior summons or examination before the suspect designation.<\/p>\n
According to Hotman, during his tenure as Junior Attorney General for\nSpecial Crimes and Chair of the Task Force for Forest Area Regulation,\nFebrie contributed significantly to non-tax state revenue collection. He\nclaimed the former Jampidsus was a source of pride for President Prabowo\nbecause the law enforcement task force he led secured Rp 300 trillion in\none year, which was deposited with the state. Additionally, there was a\nrecovery of state losses amounting to Rp 130 trillion. \u201cA total of Rp\n430 trillion was returned, making him a source of pride for the\npresident,\u201d Hotman said. Febrie served as Chair of the Task Force for\nForest Area Regulation due to his position as Jampidsus, in accordance\nwith Presidential Regulation Number 5 of 2025.<\/p>\n
