        "content": "<p>Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Gerindra Party faction in the Indonesian House\nof Representatives (DPR RI) has condemned the attack on Indonesian\npeacekeeping troops in the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon\n(UNIFIL) mission in southern Lebanon, and is pushing for a comprehensive\ninvestigation and steps to de-escalate the conflict.<\/p>\n<p>Gerindra Party faction chairman in the DPR RI, Budisatrio Djiwandono,\nstated that the attack constitutes a serious violation of international\nhumanitarian law and the United Nations (UN) mandate.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Gerindra Party faction condemns the series of Israeli attacks in\nsouthern Lebanon that are exacerbating the escalation of the conflict.\nAttacks on peacekeeping forces under the UN mandate are a serious\nviolation of international humanitarian law as well as UN Security\nCouncil Resolution 1701,\u201d he said in a written statement in Jakarta on\nTuesday.<\/p>\n<p>He emphasised that such actions are unjustifiable as they distance\nefforts towards peace in the region.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSuch actions further distance us from the goal of peace and cannot\nbe justified under any circumstances,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>In the incident, three TNI soldiers were killed while carrying out\ntheir duties: Leading Soldier Farizal Rhomadhon due to a projectile\nattack in Ett Taibe, and Captain Zulmi Aditya Iskandar and Sergeant\nFirst Class Muhammad Nur Ichwan in an explosion that hit a UNIFIL\nlogistics convoy near Bani Haiyyan.<\/p>\n<p>Budisatrio expressed deep condolences over the deaths of the TNI\nsoldiers, which he described as a great loss to the nation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIndonesia has lost three of the nation\u2019s finest sons who fell while\ncarrying out their duties for the state,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the condemnation, the Gerindra faction is also urging\nconcrete steps from the government through the Ministry of Foreign\nAffairs to conduct a transparent joint investigation with UNIFIL.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will continue to communicate with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs\nto ensure that the entire series of joint investigations with UNIFIL can\nbe carried out comprehensively and transparently, and are able to bring\njustice to the victims\u2019 families,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He also affirmed support for the government\u2019s steps in requesting the\nUN to immediately hold an emergency Security Council meeting to respond\nto the incident.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Gerindra faction also supports the government\u2019s request to the\nUN to immediately hold an emergency Security Council meeting to ensure\nconcrete steps for de-escalation as well as protection for civilians and\npeacekeeping forces,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>These steps are considered important to maintain regional stability\nwhile ensuring maximum protection for peacekeeping forces carrying out\ntheir international mandate.<\/p>",
