A deformable barrier moving at 60 km\/h struck the Geely SUV\u2019s body.\nThe force of the side impact caused the vehicle to recoil and collide\nwith a rigid pole placed on the opposite side. The Geely Starray EM-i\nmodel was the test subject, and according to the manufacturer, it passed\nthe test with flying colours. The cabin structure remained intact with\nno severe deflection that could trap occupants, and safety features such\nas airbags deployed as planned. The eCall emergency system activated\ninstantly, and door locks automatically released post-collision to aid\nevacuation. The spectacular demonstration was showcased live at the conference\ntitled \u2018Globalization and Automotive Safety Technology Innovation in the\nSmart Driving Era\u2019, jointly organised by the China Automotive\nEngineering Research Institute and UTAC.
