        "content": "<p>GE hands over bursary funds<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA: The GE Foundation, which is owned by giant U.S.<br>\nconglomerate General Electric, handed over US$66,000 to fund<br>\nbursaries for Indonesian university students on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>Irid Agoes, the director of the Indonesian International<br>\nEducation Foundation (IIEF), received the bursaries from Stuart<br>\nL. Dean, GE&apos;s Southeast Asia President, during a ceremony held at<br>\nthe Meridien Hotel, Jakarta.<\/p>\n<p>The bursaries will be awarded to 16 students from various<br>\nuniversities in the country to enable them to continue their<br>\nstudies. The bursary program has been running for five years and<br>\nthe company&apos;s foundation has to date disbursed US$355,438 to 66<br>\nIndonesian students to allow them to take undergraduate and<br>\npostgraduate degrees.<\/p>\n<p>Dean said that the objective of the program was to support the<br>\ncountry by educating its people and develop its human capital.<\/p>\n<p>GE is a multinational company that operates in over 100<br>\ncountries, whose products range from aircraft engines to medical<br>\nequipment.
