Garuda Indonesia gets new president<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Approaching its 26th anniversary next Thursday,
\nthe national flag carrier Garuda Indonesia will have its new
\npresident, Supandi, sworn in today.<\/p>\n
A company spokesman, Jansius Siahaan, told The Jakarta Post
\nyesterday that Minister of Transportation Haryanto Dhanutirto is
\nscheduled to swear in Soepandi, 58, as the airline's president,
\nreplacing Wage Mulyono.<\/p>\n
Wage, 61, was inaugurated as Garuda's president in early 1992
\nby the then Minister of Transportation Azwar Anas. He replaced M.
\nSuparno who served as a president for four years.<\/p>\n
Jansius also said that Minister Haryanto will also install a
\nnumber of executives of state-owned companies overseen by the
\nMinistry of Transportation.<\/p>\n
\"The new executives will include Garuda's director of
\npersonnel and general affairs, who will replace Supandi,\" he
\nsaid.<\/p>\n
Supandi, who served as a chief executive officer of the Batam
\nIndustrial Development Authority in 1989 through 1992, joined
\nGaruda in August 1994.<\/p>\n
There was no explanation on why Wage would be replaced after
\nhaving only served three years in office. A top executive of a
\nstate-owned company usually holds the position for five years.
