An aircraft operated by Garuda Indonesia, flight GA 176 from Jakarta\nto Pekanbaru, sustained damage described as a dent on the left side of\nthe nose section (radome) after landing at Sultan Syarif Kasim II\nInternational Airport (SSK II), Pekanbaru, Riau, on Saturday, 7 March.\nConsequently, the onward Pekanbaru\u2013Jakarta leg was cancelled.<\/p>\n
Achmad, General Manager of SSK II Pekanbaru International Airport,\nsaid the investigation is ongoing to determine the exact cause of the\ndamage.<\/p>\n
\u2018The cause of the impact is still under investigation. We will\nprovide an evaluation once the results of a comprehensive investigation\nfrom the relevant agencies are released,\u2019 Achmad said.<\/p>\n
He explained that the incident was observed with the Garuda Indonesia\nGA 176 Jakarta\u2013Pekanbaru, registration PK-GFF, which arrived at SSK II\nwith around 30 passengers on board.<\/p>\n
After landing, technicians along with the flight crew immediately\ncarried out a visual inspection. Initial checks found substantial damage\nto the radome, the aircraft\u2019s nose, particularly on the left side.<\/p>\n
To date, the cause remains under information-gathering. The\ninvestigation involves various parties to determine the factors that\ncaused the damage to the aircraft.<\/p>\n
As a consequence, Garuda Indonesia GA 179 Pekanbaru\u2013Jakarta onward\nflight was cancelled.<\/p>\n
As a precaution, passengers have been re-routed from Pekanbaru to\nJakarta on a Citilink aircraft, QG033, via Halim Perdanakusuma Airport\nat 19:30 WIB.<\/p>\n
\u2018After landing, a visual inspection was carried out by technicians\nand the flight crew. The inspection revealed the radome sustained quite\nheavy damage,\u2019 he concluded. (Z-2)<\/p>\n
