Garuda denies report<\/p>\n
Referring to your report entitled Garuda pilots ignore bomb
\nthreats, continue flights (June 28, page two), to avoid
\nmisperception on behalf of the readers and in order to put the
\nreport into proportion, I would like to clarify as follows:<\/p>\n
It is completely untrue that Garuda Indonesia's pilots ignored
\nthe bomb treats.<\/p>\n
It is important to note that the airline industry is run with
\nvery highly regulated activities, and consequently all
\noperational activities are implemented based on standard-
\noperating procedures and well-accepted international regulations.<\/p>\n
In the case of the above mentioned incident, right after
\nreceiving the bomb threat, Garuda Indonesia coordinated with the
\nrelevant authorities, and based on the authorities' assurance we
\nwere confident that there was no risk to the safety of the flight
\nand passengers.<\/p>\n
To confirm the above decision, upon arrival in Denpasar, Bali,
\nwe made an extensive search and local authorities did not find
\nany sign of a bomb on board the planes.<\/p>\n
Should The Jakarta Post have confirmed us, I believe there
\nwould have been a more accurate and two-sided report on this
\nmatter.<\/p>\n
