        "content": "<p>Garuda crew members queried over crash<\/p>\n<p>FUKUOKA, Japan (Kyodo): Police have begun questioning three<br>\ncrew members of a Garuda Indonesia Airlines passenger jet that<br>\ncaught fire after an aborted takeoff from Fukuoka Airport, in<br>\nsouthwestern Japan, in June last year.<\/p>\n<p>They are suspected of professional negligence and violating<br>\naviation laws, police sources said yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>Ronald Longdong, captain of the DC-10, and two other crew<br>\nmembers are being questioned, the sources said.<\/p>\n<p>Police questioned them at a hospital shortly after the jet,<br>\nbound for Jakarta via Bali with 260 passengers and a crew of 15<br>\non board, burst into flames after skidding onto a grassy area<br>\nafter overshooting the runway on June 13.<\/p>\n<p>The incident left three people dead and more than 100 injured.<\/p>\n<p>The questioning will last several days, the sources said.<\/p>\n<p>In December last year, the Aircraft Accident Investigation<br>\nCommittee said in a draft report that the pilot&apos;s decision to<br>\nabort the takeoff may have caused the crash of the jetliner.<\/p>\n<p>According to the panel, trouble in the third engine under the<br>\nplane&apos;s starboard wing apparently caused the pilot to abort.<\/p>\n<p>The draft report says the trouble stemmed from a damaged<br>\nturbine blade in the third engine, which caused a drastic drop in<br>\nengine thrust.<\/p>\n<p>The pilot told investigators that he aborted the takeoff<br>\nbecause he felt the aircraft did not have enough lift.<\/p>",
