        "content": "<p>Garuda and<br>\nprivatization<\/p>\n<p>The editorial on the privatization of Garuda Airlines which<br>\nappeared in The Jakarta Post on Thursday, Dec. 8, 1994, certainly<br>\npoints to a number of constraints that Garuda Indonesia faces in<br>\nmeeting international conditions, such as the layers of<br>\nbureaucratic procedures. Another would relate to the problems of<br>\nintroducing new aircraft, particularly on the European Asian<br>\nroute. However, the lack of a competitive edge suggested as a<br>\nresult of inadequate human resources is both unfair and<br>\ninaccurate.<\/p>\n<p>On the contrary, it is the human resources of Garuda<br>\nIndonesia, in spite of institutional constraints mentioned, that<br>\nhas enabled the Airline to compete on international routes.<br>\nUnfortunately this is often overloaded by critics who continue to<br>\nfly other airlines other than the national carrier, and are<br>\ntherefore not aware of the progress achieved.
