Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Association of Beef Cattle Business\nActors (Gapuspindo) has assured that the national beef supply remains\nstable despite global geopolitical dynamics that could potentially\naffect logistics costs.<\/p>\n
Gapuspindo Executive Director Djoni Liano stated that, to date, the\nimpact of global geopolitical conditions on the supply and price of beef\nin the domestic market has not been felt significantly.<\/p>\n
\u201cNot yet. We haven\u2019t felt it directly. The end of it isn\u2019t visible\nyet,\u201d Djoni said in Jakarta on Monday.<\/p>\n
He explained that Indonesia has so far relied on beef cattle imports\nfrom several countries, particularly Australia, so changes in global\nconditions could potentially affect distribution costs in the medium and\nlong term.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe influence is there, especially on logistics which become more\nexpensive,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Nevertheless, he emphasised that this situation has not yet directly\nimpacted the availability of supply in the domestic market.<\/p>\n
According to him, the government and business actors continue to\nmaintain a balance between needs and supply to ensure beef distribution\nruns smoothly.<\/p>\n
Based on data from the National Food Agency\u2019s Price Panel (PIHPS) on\nMonday, the average price of beef recorded a decline, with quality 1\nbeef at Rp148,450 per kilogram (kg), down 1.43 percent, and quality 2\nbeef at Rp139,950 per kg, down 1.55 percent compared to the previous\nday.<\/p>\n
Djoni added that potential changes in demand from other countries\ncould indeed affect the global beef supply, but the current market\nmechanisms are still functioning and domestic needs can still be\nmet.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf other countries increase imports, we could be affected in terms\nof price or supply, but so far it\u2019s still under control,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n
He also assessed that the main factor influencing price movements in\nthe domestic market still comes from consumer purchasing power.<\/p>\n
\u201cAll commodities depend on purchasing power. If purchasing power is\nstrong, the market will keep moving,\u201d Djoni remarked.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the government has assured that the national food\navailability, including beef, is safe during the high-demand period of\nEid al-Fitr 2026.<\/p>\n
The National Food Agency (Bapanas) recorded that the national\nruminant meat availability until 18 March 2026 reaches around 226,000\ntonnes, or about three times the estimated monthly need of around 65,800\ntonnes.<\/p>\n
Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan previously also\nconveyed that national food security remains maintained amid global\ndynamics, among others because the supply sources do not depend on one\nregion.<\/p>\n
