Gapensi to set up govt tender bourse<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): The Association of Indonesian Builders (Gapensi)
\nis to establish what it calls a tender bourse for government
\nprojects to promote bidding transparency, the chairman of the
\nassociation's Jakarta chapter, Daniel Hutapea, said.<\/p>\n
"We will set up the tender bourse after all government
\ninstitutions in Jakarta disseminate information of their lists of
\ndevelopment projects for 1996\/97," he told Antara over the
\nweekend.<\/p>\n
He said that he will call on 56 government agencies in Jakarta
\nto promote transparency in tendering their projects.<\/p>\n
Daniel said his association will also present a list of
\ncapable builders and a list of small-scale contractors to the
\ngovernment agencies, so that they can be involved in tenders.<\/p>\n
In return, the association will ask the government
\ninstitutions for their lists of projects, the copies of which
\nwill be distributed to its 3,000 members.<\/p>\n
According to Presidential Decree No. 16\/1994, organizers of
\ngovernment project tenders have to submit the lists of
\ndevelopment projects to the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and
\nIndustry and Gapensi but, according to Daniel, the government
\nagencies have yet to comply with the stipulation.<\/p>\n
