PDI-P Central Board Chairman Ganjar Pranowo has responded to\nPresident Prabowo Subianto, who claimed to know the parties funding\nrecent protest actions. Ganjar stated that not all demonstrations are\npaid actions.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe already knows, so he can address it. PDI Perjuangan respects the\nPresident\u2019s statements wherever he delivers them. We always follow them\nclosely, including the public response. If there are indeed parties\nfinancing demonstrations, it would be better to disclose them to the\npublic and process them legally,\u201d Ganjar said when contacted on Thursday\n(25\/6\/2026).<\/p>\n
He assessed that democracy requires certainty, not allegations that\nlead to public polemics. Therefore, he stressed that one cannot label\nall protests as being financed.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe need to convey that democracy requires legal certainty, not mere\nallegations or narratives that ultimately become public polemics,\u201d he\nsaid. \u201cHowever, we also must not consider all demonstrations as paid\nactions. Facts on the ground show the issues are far more complex.\u201d<\/p>\n
Furthermore, Ganjar highlighted the protest by UBK students who\neventually admitted to being paid, as well as other actions. Ganjar also\nexpressed hope that the government would focus on fulfilling political\npromises such as 19 million jobs, 8 percent economic growth, and\nimproving teacher welfare.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe people are still waiting for wider job opportunities, at least\n19 million new jobs and a reduction in layoffs. The people are also\nwaiting for the 8 percent economic growth target that was once presented\nas a policy direction. The benefits of this will surely be felt by the\npeople,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
In the education sector, Ganjar touched on the issue of education\ncosts, including tuition fees. According to him, ensuring these promises\nare fulfilled is far more important than accusing protests of being\npaid.<\/p>\n
\u201cUltimately, a government\u2019s legitimacy is not measured by the number\nof demonstrations, but by how many political promises can be realised in\nthe daily lives of the people. If welfare improves, jobs are created,\neducation becomes more affordable, and public services improve, then\npublic trust will grow naturally. Democracy does not need to be fought\nwith narratives; democracy is answered with performance. We support it\nwith prayers,\u201d Ganjar explained.<\/p>\n
President Prabowo addressed several matters in his speech at the Peak\nof the XVII National Farmers and Fishermen\u2019s Week in Gorontalo on\nWednesday (24\/6), including the recent demonstrations in various\nregions. Prabowo said he knew the actors behind these protests.<\/p>\n
Prabowo stated that these parties do not like him. He asserted that\nhe knows corrupt individuals.<\/p>\n
\u201cPolite but still thieves, polite but corrupt. Pretending to be rich,\npretending to have lots of money. But the money is stolen from the\npeople. I have been an Indonesian for a long time, I know all of them.\nThey don\u2019t like Prabowo because Prabowo understands,\u201d Prabowo said.<\/p>\n
