PDI Perjuangan Central Executive Board Chair Ganjar Pranowo has
responded to Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) Chairman Kaesang
Pangarep’s announcement that he will stand as a legislative candidate in
the 2029 Legislative Election. Ganjar stated that every citizen is
entitled to equal rights in the general election. “Every citizen has the
right to equal opportunity in government. That is guaranteed by the 1945
Constitution. Whoever it is,” Ganjar told reporters on Sunday
(26/7/2026). Ganjar said there are constitutional rights regulated for
citizens by law. He considered it natural for Kaesang to choose the
Central Java V electoral district because Solo is his hometown. “As a
citizen, whoever they are, they have the same constitutional right to
run from any electoral district in accordance with the provisions of the
law. Moreover, he is originally from Solo, so choosing the Central Java
V electoral district is certainly a political right that should be
respected,” he said. The former Governor of Central Java then spoke
about democratic countries. He believes the people will judge based on
track records and tangible work. “For PDI Perjuangan, this is not about
who faces whom, but about how the people are given the opportunity to
determine their choice freely and democratically. We respect every
election participant and remain confident that closeness to the people,
track record, and tangible work will be the main considerations for the
public in granting their mandate,” he said. Previously, Kaesang Pangarep
announced he would run as a legislative candidate in the 2029
Legislative Election. He is targeting victory in the 2029 election. “I
ask for your support to remain solid so we can win the election in
2029,” Kaesang explained. “The message I conveyed earlier was not as
Chairman. It was my message as a prospective legislative candidate for
the Republic of Indonesia from the Central Java V electoral district,”
he continued.
",
