Gang of armed robbers captured<\/p>\n
JAKARTA: City Police chief of detectives Sr. Comr. Mathius
\nSalempang announced on Friday that police had arrested three
\nmembers of a gang of armed robbers, known to have committed
\nrobbery in the city. Three other gang members were still at
\nlarge.<\/p>\n
The three arrested suspects are Heri Yulianto, alias Hendrik,
\n45, Agusman, alias Ujang, 45, and Ibrahim, 31, while the escapees
\nare Udin, Salim and Empe.<\/p>\n
Heri, leader of the gang, was shot five times in the legs when
\nhe tried to escape from detectives trying to arrest him on Sept.
\n16 in Kemayoran, Central Jakarta. Agusman was arrested in Tanjung
\nPriok, North Jakarta, while Ibrahim was apprehended in Tegal
\nAlur, West Jakarta, the same day.<\/p>\n
Mathius said that the gang had committed many robberies across
\nthe city.<\/p>\n
On Jan. 30, the gang robbed a jewelry shop on Jl. Wijaya IV,
\nKebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, and took jewelry worth Rp 750
\nmillion (US$88235.30).<\/p>\n
The next month, the gang stole a silver Toyota Soluna sedan in
\nCideng, Central Jakarta, and in March robbed a house in Kelapa
\nGading, North Jakarta, stealing Rp 2 million in cash.<\/p>\n
The gang was also involved in other robberies last November in
\nSrengseng Sawah, West Jakarta; Grogol, West Jakarta; and in
\nKemayoran, Central Jakarta. -- JP<\/p>",
