Gading to host Indonesia golf meet<\/p>\n

The 26th edition of the Indonesia Open amateur women's golf
\nchampionship will tee off in early August with organizers
\nexpecting more foreign golfers than last year to participate.<\/p>\n
The three-day competition will start on Aug. 3 at the Gading
\nRaya Golf Course in Tangerang, Banten province.<\/p>\n
\"Last year we had foreign participants from three countries.
\nWe expect more neighboring countries to send golfers to the
\ntournament (this year),\" Haryanto Danutirto, the chairman of the
\norganizing committee, said on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
The tournament, which was first staged in 1978, allows a
\nmaximum of 150 golfers, including athletes from 68 golf clubs and
\n22 provincial chapters of the Indonesian Amateur Golf
\nAssociation.<\/p>\n
\"We have gotten confirmation from India and Malaysia. Other
\nparticipants normally confirm a few days before the competition,\"
\nHaryanto said, adding that golfers from Singapore, Thailand, Hong
\nKong and the Philippines were expected to compete in this year's
\nevent.<\/p>\n
The tournament will offer the Srikandi Cup for the best gross
\nscore and the Kartini Cup for best net score.<\/p>\n
With the National Games being held in September in Palembang,
\nSouth Sumatra, local golfers will be using the Indonesia Open as
\na warm-up for the quadrennial multievent sporting showcase.<\/p>\n
Separately, U.S.-based Adams Golf announced the launch of the
\nOvation, its latest model golf club.<\/p>\n
Director of international sales for Adams Golf, Marc
\nPuglielli, said the club was the latest generation of Tight Lies,
\nwhich was first introduced in 1997.<\/p>\n
Puglielli said one of the unique features of the Ovation was
\nits low center of gravity, which made it easier to get the ball
\ninto the air.<\/p>\n
Adams Golf first introduced its products to Indonesia in 2001,
\nand Puglielli said the company saw the country as a great
\npotential market.<\/p>",
