Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer GAC is set to introduce a battery swap variant of its Aion RT sedan on 8 April 2026, featuring a rapid 99-second swapping system that positions it among the fastest in the industry. This development builds on the existing model by offering consumers flexible energy replenishment options, including compatibility with conventional charging methods, and utilises standard LFP battery packs from CATL with ranges up to 650 km. Priced from approximately Rp246 million to Rp304 million, the launch aims to expand GAC Aion's technological offerings in the growing EV market.

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer GAC is
reportedly set to launch the battery swap version of the Aion RT sedan
on 8 April 2026. According to a report from Carnewschina on Tuesday
local time, this model is claimed to enable battery swapping in just 99
seconds, making it one of the fastest swap systems in the current
industry. It is understood that the battery swap version of the Aion RT
is part of the further development of the electric sedan model, which
was previously marketed in China. The introduction of this variant
represents GAC Aion’s effort to expand energy charging technology
options for electric vehicle consumers. This system allows the vehicle’s
battery to be automatically replaced at dedicated stations without
waiting for the charging process. In addition to supporting battery swap
technology, the Aion RT remains compatible with conventional charging
methods. This provides flexibility for users to choose between charging
or battery swapping according to their needs. For the battery system,
all current variants come standard with a magazine-type lithium iron
phosphate (LFP) 2.0 battery pack supplied by CATL. Depending on the
configuration, the battery capacity is 55.1 kWh and 68.1 kWh,
corresponding to CLTC ranges of 520 km and 650 km respectively. As a
reference, the current Aion RT lineup consists of four models available
at prices ranging from 99,800 to 123,800 yuan (14,500 to 17,900 USD) or
approximately Rp246 million to Rp304 million.
",
