Futsal attracts growing audience<\/p>\n
JAKARTA: The Indonesian Futsal team has just concluded its
\ntraining program in Lampung, attracting 225 participants over the
\nweekend.<\/p>\n
The team, a cooperation between the Soccer Association of
\nIndonesia (PSSI) and fastfood chain McDonald's, has held training
\nprograms before in Bandung, Denpasar, Jakarta, Makassar, Medan
\nand Surabaya.<\/p>\n
Futsal originated in Latin America and is similar to indoor
\nsoccer.<\/p>\n
In Lampung, half of the participants were elementary school
\nstudents who were also members of local soccer training schools.<\/p>\n
\"The public here are very enthusiastic about developing
\nfutsal. The number of participants was much higher here than in
\nother cities,\" said Ronny Pattinasarany, a member of the team, in
\na written statement.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Koko Hadiaono of McDonald's Indonesia said the
\ncompany would invite other companies to develop futsal.<\/p>\n
\"We will also support PSSI in hosting the Asian Futsal
\nChampionship to be held from Oct. 22 until Oct. 31 here,\" he
