Kuwait's Emir Sheikh Meshal al-Ahmad al-Sabah has condemned Iran's military attack on Kuwait that has killed 12 people, emphasising that Kuwait did not authorise the use of its territory for any military operations against Iran and has repeatedly communicated this through diplomatic channels. Qatar's Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim bin Jaber Al Thani also expressed a sense of betrayal by Iran's leadership, stating that Iran's miscalculation in attacking Gulf states has destroyed diplomatic efforts and broken assurances that the region would not be targeted if they remained neutral.

Kuwait’s Emir has condemned Iran’s attack on his country, which has
so far killed 12 people. The attack was launched by Iran in retaliation
for military operations conducted by the United States and Israel
against the Islamic Republic.

“Our country has been subjected to a brutal attack by a neighbouring
Muslim state, which we consider a friend, even though we have not
authorised the use of our land, airspace, or coast for any military
action against them, and we have repeatedly informed them of this
through our diplomatic channels,” said Kuwait’s Emir, Sheikh Meshal
al-Ahmad al-Sabah, in a televised address broadcast on Kuwait
Television.

The ruler of Kuwait also affirmed “Kuwait’s full and inherent right
to defend itself,” he said while speaking for the first time since the
Iranian attack began on 28 February.

Similar condemnation was previously voiced by Qatar’s Prime Minister
Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim bin Jaber Al Thani, who cited
a sense of “profound betrayal” by Iran’s leadership following the
Islamic Republic’s attack on Qatar.

He made this statement in an interview with Sky News. “Possibly
within just one hour of the war beginning, Qatar and other Gulf states
came under attack,” said Sheikh Mohammed.

He added that the attacks occurred despite statements from several
nations in the region that they would not participate in any war against
Iran, and despite joint efforts to find a diplomatic solution.

“Iran’s miscalculation in attacking Gulf states has destroyed
everything,” he said. He added that Qatar completely rejects the
justifications and pretexts used for the escalation.

Sheikh Mohammed also said it was highly surprising that Iran
continued to attack Gulf states, even after President Masoud Pezeshkian
had apologised to them and stated that they would no longer be targeted
as long as they did not attack Iran.
",
