Nuriana appealed to all regents<br>\nand mayors in the province to step up their campaigns to raise<br>\nfunds to help the government in its fight against poverty.<\/p>\n<p>Under the fund raising program, known as Rereongan Sarupi,<br>\nlaunched three months ago, everyone in the province is expected<br>\nto chip in Rp 100 a month to the campaign, which is being<br>\nadministered by the regents and mayors.<\/p>\n<p>By the third month, the campaign had already collected Rp 2.37<br>\nbillion ($1 million). Some of the money has been distributed to<br>\npoor villages, Nuriana told regents and mayors gathering at the<br>\nProvincial Legislative Council Building.<\/p>\n<p>The money has largely been spent on health care and education<br>\nfor the poor. The remaining Rp 966 million has been deposited in<br>\nvarious banks.<\/p>\n<p>Bogor tops the list of 25 regencies and mayoralties in terms<br>\nof funds collected, with Rp 523 million.
