Fujitu to expand Asia-Pacific hub operations<\/p>\n

Japanese giant Fujitsu plans to beef up its Asia-Pacific hub
\noperations in Singapore over the next five years and strengthen
\nits presence in Indonesia, Thailand and Malaysia, an executive
\nsaid in a report published on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
The high-tech conglomerate has earmarked S$100 million
\n(US$60.6 million) to expand its headquarters in the city-state
\nand its data center management services, part of its information
\ntechnology (IT) outsourcing business.<\/p>\n
\"The increase in investment will be proportionate to revenue
\ngrowth projected over the next few years,\" Norikazu Karasuda,
\nFujitsu Asia's regional group chief executive officer, told The
\nBusiness Times.<\/p>\n
The Tokyo-based company said it will also spend S$30 million
\nthrough 2007 to beef up its operations in Indonesia, Thailand,
\nMalaysia, Vietnam and the Philippines.<\/p>\n
Fujitsu makes hard disk drives, printed circuit boards and
\nhard disk magnetic heads at plants in Vietnam, Thailand and the
\nPhilippines.<\/p>\n
\"With Singapore as our regional base and with a deep
\nunderstanding of the ASEAN market, we're well-positioned to
\ncapitalize on the region's fast-growing demand for IT outsourcing
\nand other sophisticated info-comm services and solutions,\"
\nFujitsu's chairman and chief executive officer Naoyuki Akikusa
\nwas quoted as saying.<\/p>\n
ASEAN, or the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, consists
\nof Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, Indonesia,
\nBrunei, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and Myanmar (Burma).<\/p>\n
Akikusa told the newspaper that his goal is to ensure that
\nFujitsu's growth in Asia is at least twice that of the overall
\nmarket.<\/p>",
