Fugitive JSX bomber sent to Cipinang jail<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): The Jakarta Stock Exchange bomber and grenade-
\nthrower at the Malaysian Embassy, who escaped from military
\npolice detention in July, was brought to Cipinang Penitentiary on
\nWednesday night.<\/p>\n
Second. Corp. Ibrahim Hasan was escorted by Jakarta Military
\nPolice chief, Col. Subagja Jiwapraja to the penitentiary where he
\nwould occupy a tightly guarded cell.<\/p>\n
\"We will increase security around his cell as he has escaped
\ndetention before,\" said Siswandi, who works at the jail.<\/p>\n
He added that Ibrahim is neither allowed to have any visitors
\nnor contact with other convicts in the penitentiary. His lawyer
\nwill be required to ask permission from the head of Cipinang
\nPenitentiary if he wants to consult his client, Siswandi said.<\/p>\n
On Aug. 22 Ibrahim was sentenced to life in prison by the
\nSouth Jakarta District Court for his involvement in last year's
\nJakarta Stock Exchange bombing, which killed 11 people and
\ndestroyed 200 cars.<\/p>\n
Earlier, in a separate trial, the district court also
\nsentenced him to eight years in prison for the illegal possession
\nand use of ammunition and explosives.<\/p>\n
He did not attend the trials, which were jointly conducted by
\ncivilian and military judges, as he was still at large.<\/p>\n
Ibrahim, who was a member of the Army Strategic Reserves
\nCommand (Kostrad), escaped on July 16, when the car, in which he
\nwas being taken to the hospital from military police detention,
\nsuffered a flat tire.<\/p>\n
He was caught last month in Lhokseumawe, North Aceh, where he
\nhad allegedly joined the separatist group, The Free Aceh Movement
\n(GAM). He was later flown by helicopter to military police
\ndetention in Jakarta.<\/p>\n
Ibrahim's getaway from his previous detention had caused the
\nsuspension of then Jakarta military police chief, Col.
