Makassar (ANTARA) - A joint prosecutor\u2019s team has arrested MA (48), a\nfugitive in the alleged corruption case involving the runway extension\nproject at Melalan Airport in West Kutai Regency, East Kalimantan.<\/p>\n
Soetarmi, Head of Legal Information at the South Sulawesi High\nProsecutor\u2019s Office, said in Makassar on Monday that MA was arrested on\nMonday afternoon in the Walenrang Utara area, Luwu Regency, South\nSulawesi.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe person concerned was arrested in a security operation for wanted\npersons (DPO) in the Walenrang Utara area, Luwu Regency, South\nSulawesi,\u201d said Soetarmi.<\/p>\n
The arrest was carried out by the Intelligence Team of the Attorney\nGeneral\u2019s Office together with the Fugitive Arrest Team (Tabur) of the\nSouth Sulawesi High Prosecutor\u2019s Office and the Palopo District\nProsecutor\u2019s Office after MA\u2019s whereabouts were detected in the\narea.<\/p>\n
MA was a contractor in the project to extend the Melalan Airport\nrunway from 1,050 metres to 1,600 metres in the 2013 fiscal year.<\/p>\n
The project was not completed by the work deadline of 15 December\n2013, despite having been granted a 53-day time extension.<\/p>\n
The West Kutai District Prosecutor\u2019s Office subsequently issued\nInvestigation Order Number Print-360\/Q.4.19\/Fd.1\/07\/2015 dated 2 July\n2015 regarding the alleged corruption in the project.<\/p>\n
Based on an audit by the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency\n(BPKP), the alleged corruption in the project resulted in state\nfinancial losses of approximately Rp1.5 billion.<\/p>\n
In addition to MA, the case involved Yulius Gun, a former official of\nthe West Kutai Transportation, Communication, and Information Agency who\nacted as Budget User Authority (KPA), and Hansen as Technical Activity\nImplementation Officer (PPTK).<\/p>\n
Both have been sentenced to one year and four months in prison by the\nSamarinda Corruption Court.<\/p>\n
Soetarmi reminded prosecutor\u2019s office fugitives to be cooperative and\nundergo the legal process.<\/p>\n
