        "content": "<p>Jakarta \u2014 Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia has\ncommented on the empty stocks of fuel at several privately-operated\nservice stations (SPBU) such as Shell and BP.<\/p>\n<p>Bahlil called on private businesses to seek independent commercial\nsolutions to secure their supply chains. The minister emphasised that\nthe government\u2019s primary focus is to maintain energy availability for\nthe broader population nationally. He suggested that private SPBU\noperators establish commercial cooperation between businesses, or\nBusiness to Business (B2B) arrangements, to address supply\nshortages.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPlease go B to B. That\u2019s how it is. I\u2019m not talking about\nindividuals. The state is not here to manage one group. For groups that\nwant to survive and maintain stock, go ahead and collaborate with other\nbusiness entities,\u201d Bahlil said when met at the Energy and Mineral\nResources Ministry office in Jakarta on Tuesday, 17 March 2026.<\/p>\n<p>According to CNBC Indonesia\u2019s monitoring, Shell service stations have\nhad empty fuel stocks since the beginning of 2026. Meanwhile, BP service\nstations have experienced shortages of certain fuel types more\nrecently.<\/p>\n<p>In contrast to the situation at private service stations, Bahlil\nguaranteed that fuel supplies managed by PT Pertamina (Persero) are\nsecure. He ensured that the availability of fuel, liquefied petroleum\ngas (LPG), aviation fuel (avtur), and electricity is sufficient to meet\npublic demand ahead of and during the Eid al-Fitr holiday period.<\/p>\n<p>The government recognises that escalating geopolitical conflict in\nthe Middle East has triggered market panic in several countries.\nHowever, Bahlil assured that the Indonesian Government will not\ncompletely liberalise fuel prices to market mechanisms and will maintain\nthe subsidy scheme.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRegarding prices, the state will continue to provide subsidies. We\nwill continue to be there. How much the subsidy will be depends on how\ngeopolitical developments unfold. But regarding prices, God willing, if\nit reaches US$100 per barrel \u2014 the average now is around US$70 \u2014 if it\nreaches US$100, God willing, it will still be within the budget\nframework and we can still manage it,\u201d he stated.<\/p>",
