        "content": "<p>Fuel price hike too abrupt<\/p>\n<p>It is extraordinarily surprising how few measures to tackle<br>\ninflation the government of Indonesia had put in place before the<br>\nshocking fuel price rise, which has had a big effect on the less<br>\nwell-off.<\/p>\n<p>Even to a non-economist, the rise raises concerns. The one-<br>\ntime more-than-100-percent fuel hike was apparently carried out<br>\nwithout previous adjustments, such as a gradual reduction of the<br>\nfuel subsidies along a scheduled time-line, agreed upon by<br>\nstakeholders in advance, thus enabling a less-traumatic landing.<br>\nNeither was it enacted through a series of government provisions<br>\nregulating a gradual increase in prices of a \"basket\" of<br>\nconsumable items considered fundamental for micro-economies.<\/p>\n<p>With the out-of-control inflationary price escalation already<br>\noccurring, it seems only too evident that the already inequitable<br>\nand imbalanced distribution of wealth in this country is going to<br>\nbe further skewed.
